Scott and Lindsay’s Wedding at Granite Links in Quincy, MA
Every wedding has their hiccups. With as much time, care, and emotions invested in every wedding, sometimes these hiccups can be traumatic for a couple who only wants to share the prefect day with their perfect person. Having been a wedding photographer for almost 20 years now, I have learned that what is perceived as wedding day trauma often becomes one of the defining memories for a couple. What better way to define a couple’s strength than the unexpected hurdles they face on their wedding day. I often here things like “if we could survive that on our wedding day, we can survive anything”, and “we are the luckiest people if that is the worst thing that will happen to us”. With that in mind, I never stop shooting when I cover a wedding. Even when things get tense and accidents happen, I do not lower my lens and risk loosing the defining moment that reminds a couple of their strength and makes them closer. Take for instance Scott and Lindsay. As far as weddings go, it was as close to perfect as it can get. This was in part thanks to the incredible staff at Granite Links in Quincy, MA where Scott and Lindsay hosted their tented ceremony on the side of a hill over looking the Boston skyline. The weather forecast was perfect, with only a slight chance of a passing shower. After getting all of the formal wedding photography done after the first look and well before the Ketubah signing, everyone was feeling a little over confident. Just as Lindsay was ready to take her place at the end of the aisle the rain clouds moved in and the sky opened up. And while the tent provided much needed shelter from the rain, the wind was a different story. As the ceremony progressed, so did its strength. Just as the rabbi was about to perform the tallis, a gust of wind blew through the tent, practically taking the chuppah with it. Thankfully, both Scott and Lindsay’s parents were able to grab it just in time. As the ceremony came to a conclusion, everyone shared in keeping the chuppah intact long enough for the couple to make it safely down the aisle. As for Scott and Lindsay, they are the type of couple who could find humor in the moment, and thankfully I was there to capture the memory for them.
