Sanon and Monica’s at Oakley Country Club Wedding in Watertown, MA
Modestly nestled on a hilltop along Watertown’s busiest route into Boston is one of the area’s most beautifully kept secrets. Oakley Country Club seems quiet and unassuming from the road, but as you make the drive up its winding entrance, you quickly realize why a couple like Sanon and Monica would chose this location for their wedding. Having traveled and photographed all over New England this autumn, I had grown a little cynical about the year’s fall foliage. That is why I was shocked and amazed by the scene that unfolded as I approached the pinnacle of Oakley Country Club’s property. Even as late as it was in the season, the trees at Oakley were still full of leaves whose vibrant colors outcompeted any others I had seen this year. It was an extraordinary beautiful day, with a sky so clear that it felt as though we could reach out and touch the Boston skyline from where we stood. The only unforgiving part of the day was the challenge of getting enough daylight to make sure we were able to photograph Sanon and Monica against this glorious scene. Having just come off of day light savings time, everyone, including the day’s itinerary, was adjusting to having one less hour of light for the first time that day. Even with this frustration of a 4:30 pm sunset, I was not about to let this amazing couple miss taking advantage of everything Oakley has to offer. I am glad I did not relent. Thankfully, Sanon and Monica were infinitely patient and very dedicated to capturing their wedding photography. This allowed me to create a collection of some truly stunning images this couple can cherish for all the many years to come.
