Ryan and Kerrie’s Green Tree Country Club Wedding in New Rochelle, NY
There is one thing I can say in regards to the early spring weather this year…at least I do not have to think hard about what to say in these blog posts. If I could guess, the one thing that strikes the greatest fear in the hearts and minds of all brides and grooms leading up to that one most anticipated day, it would be the the weather. Now, everyone all over the world has their weather nightmares. I am sure all brides and grooms face the fear of the unknown when it comes to their wedding day. Who doesn’t hope that the heavens will shine down on them as they vow to love, honor, and cherish for as long as they both shall live? However, there is something almost comical about the weather in the Northeast region of the US. It would be comical were it not so maddening. You see, it was just a few short weeks ago, back when it was still February and still very much winter, when we Northesaterners were lulled into a false sense of security by some unseasonably lovely weather. I kid you not, the temperatures easily reached well into the 70s. Even the finicky spring flowers were coaxed to emerge early from their winter slumber. And then we had that one rogue Nor’easter. By then it was March, and March does always like to make an entrance. But then there was another. And then another. And yet another. It was a true test of every Northeasterner’s grit. This was a relentless, cruel twist of meteorological fate. For all the brides and grooms who had to cope with these last minute, unrelenting unforeseen weather obstacles, I am in awe of you. One such couple, whom I had the pleasure working with as their wedding photographer, was Ryan and Kerrie. In regards to the weather leading up to Ryan and Kerrie’s big day, New York had mostly been spared the fury of the 2018 Spring blizzard chaos. So I can imagine how difficult it must have been for them to throw breaking snowfall into the mix of last minute, anxiety inducing loose ends. Come to find out, I was not even close to being the furthest traveled present at their wedding. Many of their guests traveled much further and from areas not accustomed to snow. Yet, to witness Ryan and Kerrie on the day of their wedding, you would have thought they were oblivious to all the recent weather and all the stress it was capable of inspiring. For them, it was all smiles and laughter, and the only tears shed throughout the day were ones of unmistakable joy. And even though there was still a mean chill in the air, Ryan and Kerrie were not about to squander the opportunity to get some creative, fun, and unique wedding photography against the beautiful grounds and ocean front view of the incredible Green Tree Country Club in New Rochelle, NY. It was going to take a lot more than a few ferocious winter storms to stop Ryan and Kerrie from enjoying their special spring wedding.
