Erik and Nicole’s Wedding at the Steven’s Estate at Osgood Hall in North Andover, MA
Having shot New England weddings for almost two decades, I am no stranger to its unpredictable weather and how it can put a damper on a couple’s wedding day. Sometimes, just reassuring a couple that they will get the beautiful wedding photography they are hoping for is enough to save the day. But it’s not enough to save the photography. That is why one of the most important things I do as the photographer happens even before the day of the wedding. It’s been said that preparation is worth a pound of cure. So, my first priority leading up to a client’s wedding day is to check the weather. I can control many things, but that is not one of them. But instead of regarding the rain as insurmountable disadvantage, I see it as a creative challenge. This really gets my artistic juices flowing. So when I approach a couple, like I did Erik and Nicole on the day of their Stevens Estate wedding in North Andover, I let them know that they are not only going to get all the photography they hoped for, but they will also have unique images that simply could not happen on a sunny day. Most brides and grooms fear the rain most. When I take that fear out of the day, there isn’t anything we can’t create and capture, rain or shine. Erik and Nicole’s wedding photography’s the perfect example of just how much fun you can have in the rain and just how creative you can be with it. Perhaps, as the old saying goes, rain at a wedding is indeed a sign of good fortune.
